I have worked in the advertising and graphic arts industries for many, many years, as a Production Manager, Art Director and most recently as a Creative Director, and have held management positions with advertising agencies as a Creative Director, Co-Creative Director, or Associate Creative Director since 1996.
Now, since 98% of the time I’m the sole employee of Only Dead Fish Swim With The Stream, CEO or CCO seemed a bit pretentious, so I don’t bother with titles at all—but when I need to fill one in on a form I just put: Ernest Burden, Chief Pencil Sharpener.
I have worked for agencies in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Yellowknife, St. John’s and London, Ontario (twice)—I really enjoy living and working in different parts of this beautiful country.
Wearing my “Only Dead Fish Swim With The Stream” hat, (most of the time), I have worked for a list of award-winning agencies, wither on staff or on contract, including Palmer Jarvis (now DDB Canada), DDB Vancouver and Edmonton, Rethink, Cossette, Young & Rubicam and Wax, Calgary. My creative work on a list of accounts including Stockhouse.com, Telus, Overwaitea Food Group, Vancouver Tourism, Edmonton International Airport, Government of Alberta projects, City of Calgary, St. John’s Airport, NL Hydro, Mac’s stores, Honda Dealers (BC to Ontario) and the BC Ford Dealers, have received accolades both locally at shows like the Anvil’s in Calgary and internationally at show’s like the New York Festival.
